Former Lakeway Mayor Steve Swan passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022. The former mayor volunteered in a variety of roles for the City of Lakeway, including serving as chair for the Heritage Commission (now, Heritage Committee), Lakeway City Council from 2003 through 2005, as well as serving as mayor pro tem in 2004 and mayor from 2005 through 2009. Lakeway Civic Corporation also recently named former Mayor Swan as Citizen of the Year in 2021. During his tenure as mayor, he helped in the initial development phase of the local hospital, oversaw the annexation of the land that would become Serene Hills, started the process of digitizing city records and led efforts in the creation of the City's website.
"Mayor Swan generously served our city, volunteering his time in multiple capacities. I was saddened to learn of his passing," said Mayor Tom Kilgore. "On behalf of the City of Lakeway, and City Council, we extend our condolences to his family. On a personal note, Mayor Swan was unique with his advice to me on serving in this office. I appreciated his outreach and will miss his contributions."
