Pickleball Court Rules


  • Courts are for pickleball play ONLY (no bikes, skateboards, basketball, soccer, outside chairs, chalk, etc.).
  • Use only non-marking rubber sole court shoes.
  • Profanity or unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated. 
  • Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult.
  • No pets, food, gum, glass containers, folding chairs, or drinks other than water on courts. 
  • Keep courts and seating areas tidy. Dispose of trash.
  • Player bags should be hung on fence hooks or removed from playing area. 
  • No lessons, clinics or camps without written permission from the Lakeway Parks and Recreation Department. Leagues or tournaments are not permitted.


  • Remain outside the courts while you are waiting your turn to play. Do not clutter the alley.
  • When your turn to play arrives, please wait until players have exited the alley prior to entering the courts.
  • Do not reorder the paddles.
  • Limit warm-up time to 5 minutes.
  • All games are 11 points, win by 2.
  • Exit the court immediately after play; return to player waiting area. 


  • Report maintenance issues to the Lakeway Parks and Recreation Department at       (512) 314-7530.


  • Court use is on a first-come, first served basis unless otherwise designated by the City for a special program, activity or event. Court #4 will be used for scheduled classes through the Lakeway Activity Center (512) 261-1010. Court #3 will be used for scheduled classes through the Lakeway Activity Center from February 1 - March 7. 
  • During peak times when courts are full and players are waiting:
    • Court time will be shared equally.
    • No singles, if others are waiting to play.
    • Waiting players should place their paddle in the "Paddle Saddle" (Left-to-Right). Do not crowd the courts or alley.
    • Court time is limited to two games to 11, win by 2.
    • Exit court immediately after play; return to player waiting area.
    • Play again - place your paddle in the first available opening in the "Paddle Saddle" (L-R). 
    • Next up when court is open - next paddles from L-R.
  • Multiple Court Stacks
    • Courts 1 & 2 = Beginner to Intermediate Players
    • Courts 3 & 4 = Intermediate to Advanced Players
    • This allows players to self-select the skill level they wish to play.
  • Two-Up, Two-Down
    • When a game is completed, the two winners remain on the court (and may split sides) for the next game. The two non-winners leave and add their paddles to the "Paddle Saddle." Two players from the beginning of the stack join the game.
