LAKEWAY ANNIVERSARIES

INCORPORATION ANNIVERSARY

lAKEWAY 5OTH ANNIVERSARY LOGO. GOLD BANNER ON TOPE OF A SAILBOAT LOGO.It's another year to celebrate Lakeway! While the community began in 1963, which was highlighted by our recent 60th anniversary celebration in 2023, the incorporation of Lakeway was in June of 1974 when we were known as the Village of Lakeway. That makes this year (2024) our 50th incorporation date anniversary! In 1990, once the recorded population reached over 5,000 residents, the Village of Lakeway met the state's requirement for becoming a home rule city. At that time, City officials adopted a city charter, which was approved by the voters in an election in May of 1990, thereby establishing the City of Lakeway we see today. COMMUNITY ANNIVERSARY

Blue Lakeway logo with retro design for 60th anniversaryWhile Lakeway itself was incorporated in 1974, we celebrate the beginning of our community on July 12, 1963 when the ribbon was cut at what was then called the Lakeway Inn at the end of Lakeway Drive. Now, it's known as the popular Lakeway Resort and Spa. The 60th community anniversary was celebrated last year, which included special pins that were handed out to the community and a special theme for the 4th of July celebration: "63 and Free."
