WHAT: A business license is required for any new or existing business to conduct business activities within the City of Lakeway (City). It provides the City with useful information to help identify different types of businesses, number of employees and locations within Lakeway.
WHY: This license helps the City identify the business as a legally operating entity and ensures that the business operates in compliance with City regulations, health and public safety guidance and rules, and building and fire codes.
PROCESS OF OBTAINING LICENSE
FILL OUT/SUBMIT APPLICATION
COST: $25 Initial Application Fee and $25 Annual Renewal
“Register” a BUSINESS name, and then make payments online by going to: Online Payments - Municipal Online Services (municipalonlinepayments.com); Click "Building Projects;" Follow all steps until you get to “Registration Pending;” At which time the permit technician will receive an email alert. The permit technician then emails the applicant a confirmation to pay online.
SCHEDULE INSPECTION (FOR NEW BUSINESSES OR NEW OWNERS)
For new businesses or changes in ownership, please schedule an online Business License Compliance Inspection with the City and fire inspection with Lake Travis Fire Rescue.

Submit to the City before 4 p.m. for a next day inspection; In the “Comments” field, indicate a “Business License” inspection and include what time the LTFR inspection is scheduled, so the City inspector can be present the same time as the fire department.
When applying, please provide: verification of owner’s legal name and address; sales tax ID (if applicable); passed health inspection; and proof of alcohol license (where applicable).
