Director of Finance

Shereen Gendy began her career in local government in 2008 and joined the City of Lakeway in June 2019 as Finance Director. In her current role, Shereen oversees all areas of finance administration including accounting, cash receipts, accounts payable, solid waste billing, cash disbursements, capital assets, purchasing, general billing, collections, grants, debt, treasury, investments, and internal controls. She also administers and monitors departmental budget of over $22M, provides guidance and support to the city Council, City executive team and City departments concerning financial matters, public financing, and internal controls. 

Shereen has a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Texas, a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) and a Certified Public Funds Investment Manager (CPFIM ). 

Shereen is active in her church and home life, with her husband, daughter and son. She also serves as a Committee member of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States & Canada (GFOA) Women in Public Finance Network (WPFN) and is an active member of the WPFN mentorship program.
